Fees and Policies
My Fee is $145 per session but ask me about my sliding fee scale. Payment is due at the time we meet. Sessions last from 50 to 60 minutes depending on the service requested. I do not accept insurance assignment. If you have an insurance plan, many clients are able to receive reimbursement for some or all the cost of our sessions from out of network benefits. I urge you to contact your health insurance company and discuss how much of your annual deductible has been met, if there is a copay for each office visit, and if they offer any out of network benefits. I am happy to assist you with accessing your benefits by completing a statement of services every 5 sessions. Insurance companies do not answer questions for me if I am not a provider. You have to make the calls if you want information about what is covered. For your convenience I accept Venmo, health savings accounts, all major credit cards, amex, check or cash.
There are many benefits to paying for psychotherapy privately. Claims submitted to your insurance company usually require a diagnosis. By paying directly for psychotherapy, there is an added layer of protection for your privacy in that anyone wishing access to your records must obtain your written permission before disclosure. Personal details are not accessible through accidental disclosures. In addition, the duration of treatment is not limited by insurance policy agreements. We can meet as often as you like, for as long as you feel it is beneficial without preauthorizations or justifying medical necessity.
High copays and out of pocket deductibles often make the difference between covered benefits and private pay negligible. Perhaps most importantly you have the ability to see whatever clinician you feel most comfortable with and has an educational level that you find most beneficial. I have worked to keep my fees reasonable so that quality behavioral healthcare can be accessed by anyone seeking personal growth, symptom relief, and increased life satisfaction.
Policies
The fee for my service includes support both in session and between sessions. In my experience, clients that participate actively on a daily or several times daily basis with new perspectives discovered in therapy will achieve change most successfully. When therapy begins with immersing yourself in learning through use of videos, books, movies, discussion, podcasts, blogs, articles, attending conferences or meetings that deal with your particular interests, trying new things there is often exponential change. Most people do not start with this concept and we’ve grown comfortable with the idea that casual interest in change will produce results. While this approach certainly can, if you want more rapid results, then jump on into the deep end. We can design a plan of study that involves mindfulness throughout the day, new activities and exposure to new ideas. It may be ‘scaary’ to implement change, but what is there to loose? Let’s discuss what this might look like….even if only for a set amount of weeks.
If you wish to chat about any concerns or successes feel free to text at any time. If I find a video or written materials that I think will interest you I may text you on occasion. I am always on the hunt for new legitimate teachers. I also check email frequently and will respond promptly. When I am in session I do not interrupt my work unless someone has an emergent concern so it may take a bit longer for my reply during those hours.
If you require documentation of our work, I provide up to 30 minutes of free service. If you require more than 30 minutes time in correspondence or in phone calls to your insurance company, beyond the first 30 minutes, I will begin charging my usual hourly rate of $145 per hour. I charge my usual hourly rate for preparation of a summary of treatment, disability claims, documentation for the courts or family medical leave act (fmla) and return to work paperwork.
